1. Women empowerment program


Wisdom Mum’s- Kiambui slum
- a) Kiambui slum is on located east of Nairobi which hosts 50,000 residences. The women in the slums face tough challenges and domestic violence due to the environment and the need for basic commodities. The women and children face domestic violence both in their homes and outside, Women who are not economically and socially stable are vulnerable, putting them at a higher risk for domestic violence. Domestic violence also contributes to negative mental and physical health effects. At PLIK , a group of friends and likeminded persons joined hands and helped to provide training to the women on life skills, business skills, and self-actualization and communication skills. These were to help build confidence of young women as well as empower them to articulate their issues well. Through this initiative, 30 young women and girls , mostly single mums with a few who were married, benefited and were able to start small businesses while others could go look for jobs they could do to earn descent income and support their children and families.

b) Training session
- Training of how to make braided wigs.6 women were trained successful and currently running a saloon as they sell their wigs to potential customers.
